Greetings,
This week, we are going to take a
different slant on matters. Has anyone watched the
debates? The one term that has caught my attention
due to repeat misuse is the term "health care."
Health care is a gross misnomer. Is what they are
referring to caring for one's health? No. It is
disease management care. Once the problem has occurred,
we now need to take these steps: 1. find the most
effective treatment for the problem 2. find the
most affordable treatment Where is any concept of
health? What needs to be revamped is the models
we use for health care and disease management. If
we want true health care, we need to have the following:

a. A
quality diet and nutritional regimen. b. A quality
exercise program. c. A puppy approach to life. (Bet
this one will get your attention) Let's look at
these in more detail. a. A quality diet and nutritional
regimen. In our last issue, we covered the benefits
of organic foods and in prior issues covered in
detail the types of diets and what is the ideal.
In short, 4-6 small meals over the course of the
day is highly recommended to stabilize weight and
blood sugar. Diet should be a balance of carbohyrates
from vegetables, fruits and grains in this order.
Ideal protein sources are fish and legumes, with
smaller amounts of chicken and red meats. Fats must
be kept low (but not too low) and of the healthy
variety such as olive oil and avocado.
A strong Nutritional protocol would
have as its basis the following: - Multi mineral
and multi trace mineral in chelated form - Hgh Plus
to balance the hormonal levels. - Multi vitamin
with additional Vitamins E and C - Royal Jelly unless
diabetic - B-complex with additional Vitamin B12
and B6 with Niacinamide (in a 1 to 2 ratio) One
certainly needs to adjust to meet individual needs
but this is the most solid foundation available.
b. A quality exercise program. Take 180 and subtract
your age. This is X. Add 10 points to X and subtract
10 from X. For example, if a person is 40, 180 minus
40 equal 140. Adding and subtracting 10 would produce
the range of 130 to 150. This is your ideal heart
range. Exercising at least 20 minutes in this range
will optimize your cardio- vascular system. Do this
3-5 times a week and weight and health will no longer
be a problem. What type of exercise? The one(s)
that you will enjoy and thus stick with. Essentially,
anything that keeps you in your ideal heart range.

Loss of appetite? Zinc is the mineral
for balancing the appetite. It is also one of the
major minerals to enhance immunity and is a must
for the prostate. Take zinc in chelated form only
and ideally, by itself and it does not mix well
with other minerals.

c. A puppy approach to life. My wife
and I recently adopted a puppy from a kill shelter
in N. Florida. He is a 16 week old Basenji mix that
looks at life as a huge playground. Everyone is
a friend and everything is a toy. He is a "smile
carrier;" that is, EVERY person who looks at him
eventually has a big smile on his/her face. Many
people work very hard. They work hard at work. Hard
at helping their family and neighbors. Hard at relationships.
Work. Work. Work. This is the classic out of balance
approach to life that many of us have done or do.
Make a conscious effort to add play in your life.
One of the greatest books I have read recently is
"The Man Who Discovered the Secrets of the Universe"
by Glenn Clark. He talks about the great Walter
Russell and how Mr. Russell insisted on balance
and being in nature. He wrote "When one is balanced
and in touch with nature, she will whisper her deepest
secrets to you." Take the time to listen. . . the
time to play and you too will be- come a "smile
carrier" to self and others.
