Greetings,
This is this is the second part of
our topic of the Heart.
Today, we will blend standard medicine with natural
health care in terms of identifying blood tests
that are exceptionally beneficial to cardiovascular
care.

Firstly, let me address the issue
of Cholesterol.
According to Dr.
Hans Nieper a correlation has been found between
higher cholesterol levels in the blood and lower
frequency of cancer, if accompanied by higher values
of DHEA.
According to various researchers, a level above
240 correlates with cardiovascular disease only
in men between the ages of 35 and 55. The risk of
stroke and potentially cancer increases below 150.
In short, cholesterol is a poor indicator or predictorof
cardio problems by itself. Here are the newest tests,
holdinggreat potential:
1. Homocysteine.
This is an amino acid in the blood in which studies
have linked to elevated risk of heart disease and
stroke. Prevention: Folic acid and Vitamins B6 and
12
2. CRP or C-Reactive
Protein. This is a naturally occurring chemical
in the blood that is elevated when inflammation
is present in the body. Inflammation in arteries
can make plaque rupture, causing a heart attack
or stroke. Treatment: Exercise is by far the most
important.
SPECIAL NOTE: Recent studies have
shown that walking is NOT considered exercise and
does little by itself.

Injecting
a little humor into the Day: Here is a conversation
we overheard while at MGM theme park between a mother
and her 6 or 7 year old daughter. Daughter: Mom,
you are not a girl. You are a mom. . . . the joy
of youth!

3. Lipoprotein.
This is a variation of LDL or "bad" cholesterol.
Lipoprotein has been associated with an increased
risk of stroke and cardiovascular disease. Treatment:
Diet, exercise and specific nutrition (we will cover
this topic next week) can lower these levels.
To your health,
Dr. David Orman
