You want to create, be an energy powerhouse,
have an ideal physique, a sharper memory, elevated
mood etc. etc. We are here every week to assist
you. Our newsletter provides cutting edge information
that is easy to understand and apply. All of this
from one the country's foremost nutrition authorities.
Welcome aboard. Our issue this week deals with combating
and preventing colds and flu. With the changing
of the seasons, sickness becomes commonplace. "It
is flu season now," as if it is distinguished from
Fall and Winter. This does not need to be the case.
First, let us look at two main causes. #1 is overeating.
The digestive system is considered to be 50% of
the immune system. With the holidays, people eat
more and move less. This contributes to what natural
medicine refers to as "food stagnation." As the
term implies, a portion of the consumed food remains
undigested, weakening both the digestive and immune
systems. Some of the remedies are obvious (and often
ignored) -- reduce intake of food, increase exercise.
The other remedies are: - a digestive enzyme with
each meal. In addition, if large meals are consumed
(Ex/ Thanksgiving), take one digestive enzyme every
other hour for the next 2-3 days. - Essential Fatty
acid such as Udo's Choice (can be found at most
health stores) - acidophilus with FOS.

Secondly, one of the most misunderstood
and neglected systems in the body is the lymphatic
system. The lymphatic system is often referred to
as the "dust bin" of the immune system. It is the
lymphatic system's responsibility to remove \viruses,
bacteria, and harmful proteins safely from the body.
It is also the only system without it own "pump."
For example, the heart is the "pump" for the circulatory
system; lungs for the respiratory etc. The lymphatic
system depends upon the musculoskeletal system as
its "pump." That is one of the reasons exercise
is so very important. One herb that can assist the
lymphatic system is called Slippery Elm. It not
only has a most soothing and healing action on all
the parts it comes in contact with, but in addition
possesses as much nutrition as is contained in oatmeal,
and when made into gruel forms a wholesome and sustaining
food for infants and invalids. Mostly, Slippery
Elm can assist the body in detoxifying the lymphatic
fluids and thus improving immunity. When the lymphatics
are congested, one can experience anything from
the common cold to very serious illnesses. Exercise
and the use of Slippery Elm can greatly assist the
body. It comes in tea, tablet or tincture form.
The latter is most preferred.

QUICK
HEALTH TIP: 75% of Americans are dehydrated, 1/2
chronically so. Every time you look at the clock
or a watch, take some water. Condition yourself
to "see watch/clock --- drink water." A habit takes
21 days to make or break.
