Vitamin E
*** Dr. Orman's Optimal Health eNewsletter ***
Greetings,
There has been a significant amount of debate and controvercy
regarding Vitamin E. This will be the topic of topic of today's
eNewsletter. A meta-analysis simply stated is an analysis of all
of the analysis on a subject. On November 10th of this year, a
meta- analysis on Vitamin E was done and printed in the Annals of
Internal Medicine. They concluded that Vitamin E can shorten life
span and may be dangerous. This is a grossly inappropriate
conclusion

Firstly, the researchers drew conclusions for everyone based on a
combination of studies of people who were already at grave risk
with existing diseases which included cancer, heart disease,
Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and kidney failure. NO evidence was
provided that these alleged negative effects would occur in
healthy individuals. In fact, virtually all of the research to
date draws a completely different conclusion. The meta-analysis
conbined 19 individual studies. Only one -- yes one -- showed a
statistical increase in risk with the use of Vitamin E. The other
18 showed no increased risk to any degree. Most of the trials
involved mid to older people who had heart disease or other
serious conditions and/or were at risk for disease. Of these
trials, the results found would be considered random. In other
words, they found nothing.

Canker sores are both common and painful. They are caused by a
term called Hypervitaminosis D. This means that there is too much
vitamin D and a deficiency of Vitamin F. The treatment for this
is two-fold: (1) L-Lysine and (2) Flax seed oil. With this
protocol, the painful little sores will be gone in no time.

Vitamin E is a strong antioxidant. Its functions include: -
Protects cellular and subcellular membranes in the body -
Protects fats and Vitamin A from free radicals - May slow down
premature aging by way of its protective effects from free
radicals caused by environmental factors. - May prevent cancer
growth - May lower blood sugar levels in diabetic patients -
Inhibits platelet formation that are associated with
atherosclerosis
In summary, Vitamin E is a safe substance at levels of at least
1000mg for normal, healthy people.
