14 Rules for Fat Loss

Here they are. The 14 rules you need for ideal weight, fat loss and overall improve health and wellness.

  1. High Protein. This way of eating not only helps with muscle growth and preservation, it has been shown to promote fat loss. Look for 40% of daily calorie intake to be from protein.

  2. Eat fat. Eating healthy fats will assist the body in burn unhealthy, unwanted fat. Average intake should be about 30%. Fatty fish like trout or nuts like almonds and walnuts are great choices.

  3. Eggs. Organic, range free eggs are one of the healthiest foods known. Research has shown that eggs for breakfast results in fewer calories consumed during the day.

  4. Grapefruit. Scripps Clinic in San Diego reported subjects eating ½ a grapefruit lost an average of 4 pounds in 3 months. This fruit is known to reduce insulin.

  5. Dairy. Dairy is known to be high in calcium, the mineral known for fat loss, particularly around the abdominal region.

  6. Doc was right. An apple a day. Apples are an excellent slow digesting carbohydrate that contains many health promoting antioxidants. The star of the show is known as Polyphenols which has been found to boost muscle strength, endurance and promote abdominal fat loss.

  7. Spice of Life. Peppers and tumeric contain Capsaicin, a chemical known to enhance metabolism, even at rest. It is even more of a calorie burner during execise.

  8. Organic. This is one thing for sure that is worth the extra cost. Organic milk for example contains about 70% more omega 3 fats versus standard milk. Organic meat had significantly higher CLA levels as well. Not to mention the hormones, toxins and other “additives” that you don’t have to deal with.

  9. Avocados. One of the healthiest foods, they are high in monounsaturated fats, the type of fat which is not stored as body fat. They also contain a sugar that blunts insulin.

  10. Green Tea. The major ingredient, EGCG inhibits the enzyme that would normally breakdown a specific hormone which lowers the metabolism. J of Nutrition stated subjects reported abdominal fat loss with greeen tea.

  11. Oolong tea is another one. Though not quite as good as green tea, Oolong helps reduce cortisol levels, the hormone associated with abdominal fat storage.

  12. Avoid artificial sweeteners. Aside from the detrimental effects on overall health (gall bladder in particular), the sweet taste of artificial sweeteners increases the release of insulin which in turn blunts fat burning.

  13. Water. German researchers noted that drinking 2 cold cups of water can increase metabolism by 30%.

  14. Fish. The essential Omega 3 fats in fish (oil) promote fat loss, particularly when combined with exercise.
