The Need for Immunity

I don’t watch the news or read newspapers. Nevertheless, it is virtually impossible to NOT hear about the strange new pathogens that are around. Ebola and other “stars” slowly making their way into various countries, including America.

What can be done? This is a common cry among many. As such, we need to go back to one of the most time tested, effective principles — prevention.

Dig the ditch before you are thirsty, not when you are thirsty.

In the case of immunity, the lymphatic system is the main factor here. Yes, there certainly are others such as the health of the gut, the spleen and the heart. They all need to be addressed, but in terms of priority, the Lymphatic System is the major focus.

In its most simple terms, think of the Lymphatic System as the “dust bin” of the immune system. Here, dead pathogens and proteins accumulate and are removed from the body via the musculoskeletal system primarily. That is why exercise is so very important.

When the Lymphatic System is flowing smoothly, the body is healthy. When it is congested, that is when disease(s) is present. Depending upon a number of factors, the disease can be an annoying cold or a life threatening illness.

The one substance that can help improve the flow of lymph is Slippery Elm. It is a safe, inexpensive herb can that be found in virtually every health store. Despite its low cost, it is very, very powerful and the most effective herb for the overall health of the lymphatics, and thus the immune system.

In addition to Slippery Elm, lymphatic massage can also be effective. It is typically a little uncomfortable, as the areas where the lymph nodes are can be quite tender.

Also as mentioned, exercise is imperative. Every other system has a “pump.” The cardiovascular system has the heart. The respiratory has the lungs etc. The lymph depends upon the muscles as its “pump.” That is why in a prior article, I stated that “sitting is the new smoking.” The less activity one gets, the more the lymph is clogged. . . the greater the chances of disease.

We cannot always predict what will happen to us, to our community and the world around us. Nevertheless, there are things we can do to create the greatest chance for us to live a long, health, happy and prosperous life.

Take action. You are worth it.
