Breakfast used to be considered the most important meal of the day. Now, with the popularity of “intermittent fasting” and “training on an empty stomach,” many have become confused about the issue. Time to clear it up.
Bottom line, skipping breakfast as few as 2-3 times per week can add inches to your waist and compromise your overall wellness. In particular, it drains the adrenals which then affects the heart. Also, it correlates highly with depression and feeling “blue.”
Harvard Researchers found that people who skipped a morning meal were 31% more likely to be diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Failing to break your fast throws the blood sugar out of balance.
On the flip side, eating breakfast, particularly protein within 30 minutes of waking has the opposite effect; that is, it correlates with fat loss and will stabilize the blood sugars throughout the course of the day.
Take home message: Breakfast may yet be the most important meal of the day!
