Strengthening Your Bones, Women and Men

Over the past few decades, there has been an emphasis on strengthening the bones and skeletal system, primarily for women. Of course, this is for good reason as the incidences of osteoporosis and other skeletal problems are dramatically rising.

So it is primarily a female-based issue? Not quite gentlemen.

Studies have shown that 2 million men in the U.S. have osteoporosis and 16 million more have low bone mass.

What are the reasons for such a dramatic rise in this issue among both sexes, and more importantly, what can be done about it?


There are 2 major reasons:

  1. Increased consumption of sugar which will weaken the entire skeletal system
  2. Decreased amount of exercise, particularly weight-bearing exercise.


How to Correct

Once the reasons are identified, the “treatment” is obvious.

  1. Reduce the amount of sugar consumed. This can be done by adding more healthy protein to one’s diet and by taking chromium and the herb Gymnema Sylvestre. The combination will go a long way in not only keeping the blood sugar in a healthy range but reducing the feelings of sugar cravings or desires.
  2. Adding weight bearing exercise into the mix.
