5 New Food and Eating Trends

If we were to take a peek into our imaginary crystal ball and see what is ahead, there are some unique foods that can provide a great deal of wellness and health benefits for everyone. Let’s being:

  1. Grass and “green” dairy. Studies have shown that grass fed animals have more Omega 3s, antioxidants and other nutrition that we need. It can be found in beef but quite a challenge to get via dairy. That will change in the near future as environmental friendly and health conscious companies are slowly but surely springing up.
  2. Protein-based snacks. Snacking is one of the major issues relating to obesity. The major reason, of course, is that most snacks are loaded with sugar, fake sweeteners or fat. We are beginning to see the trend toward more protein based snacks, from bison bars to salmon jerky. It may take a while to catch on but when the benefits become known, a percentage of the population will begin to gravitate toward these healthier alternatives.
  3. Super Foods from the Ocean. For years, I have been promoting seaweeds such as hijiki due to the tremendous health benefits. Nori and wakame are just behind them. Each is loaded with trace minerals, iodine and healthy nutrition for the kidneys, adrenals and thyroid in particular. Not to mention they are very tasty. Look for more, new and innovative foods from the waters.
  4. Preparation of Meals Becomes Easier. While I have been mentioning foods, food prep will also become dramatically easier. Companies such as Hello Fresh, Blue Apron and Purple Carrot are providing meal kits – great food complete with easy-to-follow instructions. A “do it yourself kit” for busy people who want to eat in a  healthy way.
  5. United Nations on your Plate. You probably have tried sushi. Certainly Mexican and Chinese foods. Indian undoubtedly. Look for others (foods), particularly in not-too-well-known places to be available on your plate. America, for example, is not longer the nation of meat n’ potatoes. Mixed from Ethiopia, Portugal, Korea or N. Africa will be on the shelves soon, if not already. Variety is the new word of the day, at least when it comes to eating.

There will be others, some of which have already found a niche and growing. Join my online school HERE and learn more about this and so many other wellness topics. Your health is worth it!
