It is another morning and you feel a sense of dread getting out bed. No, the job is fine and the weather is great. All is right with the kids and the puppy dog is healthy, but ohhh. . . my aching joints.
Ever experience this or some variation thereof? You may be experiencing OA or osteoarthritis. Fortunately, there are a number of things that can be done to address this issue and make morning an enjoyable experience, an opportunity to face the “blank canvas and paint a most beautiful picture.”
Here are the top 3:
1. Consume foods high in antioxidants. Foods that are red, orange and green in color — vegetables and fruits – are rich in antioxidants and generally, very tasty, inexpensive and easy to find. At the top of the list is pomegranate (for more details and this and the top 5 Superfoods, see my latest video in Dr. Orman’s Wellness School).
2. Be sure your diet is high in omega-3s. When you hear “Omega 3,” think oily fish such as salmon, along with flaxseed and nuts. Be sure the salmon is Alaskan fresh caught.
3. Regularly use ginger and turmeric to cook with or via supplements for their natural anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric in particular, helps to move the blood and clear inflammation throughout the entire body.
