Do Epsom Salts Really Work?

Epsom Salts, also known as a Magnesium bath, has been around longer than your grandmother’s grandmother. The idea is that you run a warm bath and dissolve these salts into the water. The benefits are said to be:

  • Detoxify the muscles and the system in general.
  • Anti-inflammatory properties.

Does it actually work?

According to the research. . . .probably not. It is most likely the warm water that is contributing to the beneficial, stress-reducing effects.

I know.

I was sad to hear this too. But don’t fret. There are excellent ways to flush toxins from the body that are both safe and effective. Here are the top 4:

  1. Increasing water consumption or specific types of herbal teas, depending upon what organ or organs you wish to focus on. (I did a series of 5 video lessons on this entire topic in Dr. Orman’s Wellness School.)
  2. Promoting sweating through the use of wet saunas.  (Dry saunas have a tendency to irritate the lungs.)
  3. Eating a diet rich in fiber and dark greens.
  4. Adding milk thistle, dandelion root or other substance to help purify the liver.
