Today’s blog will focus on a unique fiber called Glucomannan. Glucomannan is a soluble fiber that cuts appetite, normalizes insulin and blood sugar and promotes weight loss.

Extracted from the Asian plant called Konjac, Glucomannan is more than just a typical fiber. Studies show that upon contact with water, it expands to some 200 times its volume. This creates a soft, bulky mass that imparts a sense of full-ness with the individual. It also has a tremendously positive impact on the metabolism. Quite a number of clinial trials has shown that glucomannan stabilizes blood sugar, lowers blood cholesterol and triglycerides, lowers blood insulin levels and combats the insulin resistance syndrome.

Taken before meals with plenty of water (please note the use of the word PLENTY), Glucomannan slows carb absorption and reduces insulin response by up to 50%. Also, the aforementioned “filling feeling” reduces the amount of food actually consumed. The end result of all of this? The average weight loss was 5.5 pounds over an 8 week period, without any change in diet or change in exercise.

Consider this fiber as part of an overall fat reduction program.
